Matthews consulting (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Recipe Ranger application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App. By using Recipe Ranger, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account Information (if applicable): name, email address, username, password (stored as a hash), profile photo. If you use social sign-in, we receive your basic profile info from Apple.
- Recipes & User Content: recipe text, ingredients, instructions, tags, notes, photos, and other media you upload.
- Device & Usage Data: device model, OS version, app version, IP address, crash logs, and interaction data (e.g., feature usage, searches) to improve the App.
- Location Data (optional): approximate location (from IP) or precise location if you grant permission.
- Cookies/Tracking: cookies and similar technologies used only for core functionality. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the App and its features (including storing your recipes in an external database).
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, provide support, and communicate about service updates.
- Personalize content and recipe recommendations.
- Monitor performance, debug issues, and enhance security.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Sharing & Disclosure
We may share information with:
- Service Providers/Processors: hosting, external database, analytics, email delivery, and payments, strictly to provide services on our behalf.
- Legal/Regulatory: when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business Transfers: during a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
- Public Content: recipes you choose to mark as public may be viewable by others and indexed by search engines.
We do not sell personal information for money.
5. External Database & Storage
Recipes and related content are stored in an external database provided by Supabase and hosted in United States. Encryption at rest: Yes. TLS/HTTPS enforced in transit: Yes. Backup/retention policy: No fixed retention; upon user request, information is deleted.
6. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information (e.g., access controls, password hashing, encryption in transit). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as needed to operate the App or comply with legal obligations. There is no fixed retention schedule. Upon a user deletion request, we delete the information from active systems.
8. International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own (including the U.S.). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., data processing agreements or standard contractual clauses).
9. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object or restrict certain processing. To exercise rights, contact us at info@recipe-ranger.com. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. If we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
10. Analytics & Advertising
We do not use analytics tools or serve advertising at this time. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before enabling analytics or ads.

The App may contain links to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we do not control.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the App and/or notify you by email for material changes. The “Effective date” at the top indicates when this policy was last updated.
